Time for some fallout. And I'm not talking about Chinen's broken heart.
According to Osaka Sports, after Shuukan Gendai's (SG) article on Ohno was released the jimusho immediately contacted newspapers and tv stations stating that it was untrue. They admitted to him hanging with the girls (cuz hello, pictures) but said he "absolutely did not smoke marijuana."
Mari-juana is bad. Mkayyy.
The jimusho is standing strong in it's denfense, so much so that it will no longer be working with Kodansha, SG's publisher. This means no more Johnny's in whatever fashion mags Kodansha publishes or whatever other work Johnny's had planned with them.
One very recent connection between the two organizations is Nino and Ryo's fall drama "Ryusei no Kizuna," which is based on the work of Higashino Keigo - originally serialized in SG. Fear not, though, it will be broadcast as planned, but SG won't be granted any coverage of the drama. Prohibiting the original publisher of the work from covering the drama version is quite unprecedented. Also, Nino and Ryo won't appear on those little bands they put on books. (Ya know, the ones that say "NOW A TV DRAMA!") SG isn't sweatin' it though. They stated they have more than enough material to work with and full confidence in the contents of their publication.
The "most painful" result of the breakup is the loss of the annual Johnny's calendars - which bring in a steady 200,000,000 yen a year (roughly $1.8 million). After next year they will be gone. No mention of change in publishers, but they will most likely be taking their business elsewhere.
Hm. Dunno if all this is true, but if so, that's pretty major. Kodansha is taking a big hit. But yeah, as mentioned in the comments, Johnny's will probably just find another publisher to do the calendars with.
Random aside: If you want to watch a hilarious film about smoking pot, I recommend checking out Reefer Madness. It's like a public service announcement gone horribly wrong. I found it to be quite ridiculous and one of the worst movies I'd ever seen, but I also thought it was very funny.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. And now, I sleep.

but wow...
looking forward to see the future happenings.
back to the topic
im really sad about ohno's scandal. i wish its not true. this will really affect Arashi and i will be sad, all of us will be sad. im happy that JE is defending Ohno. i wish they solve this problem ASAP
This whole commotion from Johnny's boycotting some business joint ventures sort of confirms the bad news about Ohno, in a very twisted way. I can't explain, but it's like major and total damage control.
But then again, as a fan, I'd like to give Ohno the benefit of the doubt. However, I still go for the simplistic view of things: If it's the truth, then it's the truth. If it's not, then it's not.
is myojo under Shukan Gendai??
I really hope Kodansha profited from letting the cat out of the bag, because I imagine whatever they made from that story will be nowhere near the amount of money they'll loose from their contract with Johnnys.
But at least JE supports Ohno. They could've just kicked Ohno out, like they did with Uchi and the-other-guy. But I imagine they're making a profit by keeping him anyway. Perhaps Kodansha is a rival? and JE wants to "put them out of business".
Whatever it is, you can be sure Johnny is one good business man.
I really love how Johnny-san defenses his employees.
But without the calendars it will get depressing, I hope they will find another company!! :D
I admit that I might have underestimated the power of Kitagawa-sanBut the calendars are usually giving us the fans a bunch of excellent photoshots.. A bit sad for me if they're not going to release it anymore.. Anyway, it's better, I'm happy to see Johnny's giving out clarification~ ^^
TEAM OHNO!!! lol
ah well, admitting to hanging out wif the girls is no major harm done... i can imagine they will continue to vehemently deny the drugs and sex... i'm just glad tat JE is standing by Ohno on this one ^^
Hmmm, although a friend just pointed out that Koubunsha is part of Koudansha...

marijuana is bad? really? celebs getting caught with it haven't got out of business >>;;But it means that the whole thing is blown over, right? Yay for Ohno lol. They could always go to another publisher to make their calendars. I'd like to see the bidding war between publishers for that job.
As for the Jimusho, they can always transfer to Shueisha, for example, especially seeing as Arashi's new photobook will be released under them...
Oh, and sweet dreams! ^^
Hardcore Jimusho FTW. Even if they are bastards. Occasionally.
and Kodansha is a big company too, wonder how can the jimusho find a replacement for them especially there's an upcoming drama involving two JE talent and not to mention one of them is a member of arashi...
But at least Ohno and Arashi aren't taking a hit for this one. Though fans all over the world, I'm sure, will be mourning the loss of JE calendars. (Unless Johnny's already cozying up to another publisher for that one)
his puppy eyes come handy in this situation huh XD
Johnny-san is right to do what He did.
And, beeing truth or not, this is just beyond bounderies. It's just mean.
That's my oppinion. I'm feeling offended with what they did to Ohno.
bwhahahaha
:]
thnx for the update.
woot. go ohno.
:))
